Meet Matt and Rachel Frey

Bub’s Burgers and Ice Cream® was established in May of 2003 in Carmel, Indiana after owners Matt and Rachel Frey returned to Indiana to launch the restaurant with an emphasis on quality food and a fun atmosphere. When they spotted the "little yellow house" along the Monon Trail in downtown Carmel, they knew it was meant to be! With a lot of family guidance and moral support, Bub’s® was born using owner Matt Frey's childhood nickname "Bub" as inspiration. And that name ended up fitting perfect with the Big Ugly® Burger theme. 

Bub's burgers are made from fresh, hand-pattied ground chuck; buns are house-made daily to fit Bub's burgers. Quality, value and service rule with a standard set for the highest ingredients, products and service levels possible.

While Bub's is known for burgers, other menu items like grilled Mahi Mahi, Elk Burgers, Chicken sandwiches and Bub Dogs are customer-pleasers as well.  The ice cream shop is also a popular stop on the Monon Trail, and customers find the hand-dipped shakes particularly refreshing. Indianapolis artist Mike Brown helped create the ambiance with colorfully painted farm-scene murals.

Zionsville, Bloomington and Westfield Oh My!

Loyal burger enthusiasts in Central Indiana led to a second Bub’s Burgers and Ice Cream opened in Bloomington, Indiana in August, 2010. Bub's received a warm welcome with Bloomington's award for Best New Restaurant 2010 (Indiana Daily Student Newspaper) and Best Burger 2011, 2012, and 2013, and 2014 (Herald Times Newspaper). In January 2014, Bub's opened a location in Zionsville, Indiana for burger lovers in West Carmel, Zionsville and Boone County.

Bub's Burgers was founded in 2015 and is located near Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield, Indiana. Like a hip younger brother, it's a twist on the original in a fun, comfortable and relaxed setting. As a streamlined version of Bub’s Burgers and Ice Cream, our Westfield location offers fast and friendly counter service with most of your Bub's favorites for families on the go.
